This study examines the effect of motivation and family environment on the work readiness of undergraduate management students at the Institut Bisnis dan Teknologi Kalimantan, both partially and simultaneously. A quantitative associative design was applied. Primary data were collected through an online five-point Likert questionnaire distributed to 54 final-year students writing their thesis, drawn by purposive sampling from a population of 116 using the Slovin formula. Data were analysed with multiple linear regression in SPSS 26, preceded by validity, reliability, and classical assumption tests. Motivation has a positive and significant effect on work readiness (β = 0.490; p = 0.000), as does the family environment (β = 0.436; p = 0.000). Simultaneously both variables significantly influence work readiness, with a coefficient of determination of 0.832, meaning they jointly explain 83.2 per cent of the variation in work readiness while 16.8 per cent is attributable to factors outside the model. The findings confirm that work readiness is shaped by internal drive and external family support acting together, and that the weakest dimension of readiness is students’ specific knowledge of their intended occupation — an area universities can address directly through career information and industry exposure.
